Founded in July 1994, Prerana Charitable Trust began as an initiative led by the wives of senior officers of The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd., with a shared vision to extend care and support to those in need. Over the past three decades, under the guidance and dedication of its esteemed former Presidents and members, Prerana has evolved into a compassionate and community- driven organization committed to creating meaningful social impact.
Prerana works towards uplifting underserved communities through initiatives focused on healthcare awareness, education, empowerment, and community welfare. The Trust has remained deeply sensitive to the needs of cancer and leprosy patients, senior citizens living in care homes, and children without adequate family support, while continuously expanding its efforts to foster dignity, hope, and opportunity for all.
Driven by compassion, responsibility, and collective service, Prerana continues to work at the grassroots level to create sustainable and positive change in the lives of individuals and communities.
Our Story
Prerana was born from a simple yet powerful belief — that even small acts of kindness can create lasting change. Founded in July 1994, the Trust began its philanthropic journey with the motto “Hope and Dignity”, guided by a deep commitment to serving those in need with compassion and care.
What started as an effort to support individuals and families gradually evolved into a broader mission focused on healthcare, education, empowerment, and community welfare. Over the years, Prerana has worked towards empowering underprivileged children, especially girls, through access to education, sponsorships, and support initiatives. The Trust has also extended assistance to children with special needs by helping identify and provide remedial support for learning disabilities.
